A charity shop customer has shared her delight after spotting a sizeable discovery she couldn’t resist snapping up, only for it to result in a ‘dreadful’ bus journey home
A charity shop customer has boasted that her recent find is unbeatable after spotting a huge item in a local store. The shopper, Cecilia was so thrilled with her latest discovery that she couldn’t help but boast about it in a TikTok video.
“Ok guys you can stop going to the charity shop now – I won,” she declared. Cecilia then shared footage from the shop’s entertainment section, revealing a massive collection of The X-Files DVDs. The science fiction drama series, which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, ran for 218 episodes between 1993 and 2002 and also spawned two feature films – The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008).
“It took up the whole shelf of a charity shop, imagine my shock I gasped when I saw it,” Cecilia added.
Her post ended with photos of her bulging carrier bags as she struggled to carry the collection home. “I did have to carry it on the bus though, that was a bit dreadful,” she quipped.
Indeed, the collection spans an impressive 61 discs and cost her just £25.
“Swear there’s only 11 seasons why are there so many?” one puzzled TikTok user asked. Cecilia clarified that each disc only contains three episodes, each lasting 40 minutes.
Another person praised the find, penning: “I’m filled with envy right now but congratulations.”
A third highlighted Cecilia’s bargain, noting: “Saw the complete box set on DVD on Amazon for £79.99 or cheaper if you have Amazon Prime.”
Whilst a fourth TikTok user confessed: “I’ve never been THAT jealous of a stranger.”
And a fifth exclaimed: “You are the luckiest person in the world.”
Others pointed out their X-Files DVD collection contained far fewer discs, including one fan who pondered: “I think they are from a [subscription] magazine release. I have a much nicer DVD release with a limited edition display box with a timeline design.”
According to an X-Files fan website, The X-Files: The Complete Collectors Edition was released in USA and Canada on November 6, 2007 and November 19 in Europe.
As well as the episodes and films, the DVD set also includes 9 DVD-ROM games, several character profiles, as well as behind-the-scenes/making of The X-Files.
