Detectives investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Enfield are appealing for witnesses. The teenager was found seriously injured on High Road, in Arnos Grove, just after 5pm on Thursday, October 9.

He continues to fight for his life in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said. The force is yet to arrest anyone in connection and is urging anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Catherine Dempster, who is leading the investigation, said: “We recognise the shock and concern this will have caused the local community in Arnos Grove and are working at pace to identify the perpetrators. This cannot be done without assistance from the public.

“Were you in or near to High Road, Arnos Grove around 17:00hrs? Do you know anything about this incident? Did you hear gunshots? Do you have any CCTV / dashcam footage within the vicinity of the incident? If so, please come forward.”

Police, paramedics and a team from London’s Air Ambulance descended on the residential road minutes after the first call to 999. A cordon was later set up at the junction with Springfield Road, adjacent to the High Road Open Space.

Residents have been told to expect an increased police presence in the coming days whilst enquiries are made.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 5.02pm on Thursday 9 October to reports of a shooting on Springfield Road, N11. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a man for a gunshot wound and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 5749/09OCT2. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
