The Duke of Sussex has requested to have his wife accompany him on his next visit home, and that he would like the family to visit the UK to be able to ‘build bridges’
Duke of Sussex Prince Harry has reportedly “pleaded” with his wife Meghan Markle to join him when he next visits the UK.
The supposed request comes a month before Prince Harry will visit the UK to celebrate ten years of the Invictus Games. It is thought that Meghan will stay at their Montecito home with their two children instead of accompanying her husband on the trip. Meghan has made only a few returns to the UK since the pair stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and only on rare occasions which included Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. However, she did not return for King Charles III’s coronation last year, which Harry attended alone.
The Duke is reportedly keen for his wife and two children to visit the UK to try and repair the royal rift and for Archie and Lilibet to have a chance to meet and bond with their cousins. Son Archie moved to the US before he was one, with the family first moving to Canada before later settling in California.

A source speaking to New magazine claimed that the Duke of Sussex asked his wife to join him on his trip and added: “He [Harry] would prefer it if the entire family made regular visits to see his family and build bridges, but there is so much going on behind the scenes that it just isn’t possible at the moment.”
The couple are thought to have concerns over safety with the source explaining: “It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn’t feel safe. The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone.”
Reluctance from the Duchess to visit the UK may also be linked to security concerns, which follow after Prince Harry lost his battle at the UK High Court earlier this year against the Home Office and RAVEC following downgrades to his security after he stepped back from being a working royal. The Duke had been trying to overturn a ruling which saw his security status downgraded after he stopped being a “working royal”, as he cited concerns over his safety and that of his wife and two young children. Harry’s legal team previously told the High Court: “The claimant’s consistent position has been, and remains, that he should be given state security in light of the threats/risks he faces.”
