Darragh Ennis, star of The Chase, shared a tricky quiz with his followers on social media – and you’ll need to be a master of geography knowledge to get the answers right
If you’ve ever sat down after work and tuned into an evening of ITV, you’ve probably watched an episode of The Chase before. The game show sees a group of four contestants take on any one of six possible quizzing masters known as Chasers, whose job it is to stop the contestants from winning their prize money.
One of the newest Chasers on the show is Darragh Ennis, who joined in 2020 after winning an episode himself in 2017. When he’s not trying to thwart contestants on the show, however, Darragh can usually be found on social media sharing quizzes of his own with his followers.
A recent quiz shared on TikTok can only be solved by those who love geography, as it’s all about flags of the world. There are five questions that get progressively harder, and you’ll need worldwide knowledge to get them all right.
In his video, Darragh said: “One for all the vexillologists this time with a tough flags quiz. And if you didn’t know what vexillology means, the study of flags, you might be in trouble here. This one’s impossible – I bet no one gets all five.”

Questions
You may want to watch the TikTok video to get a better sense of the questions, as two of them include a picture of a flag that you’ll need to see in order to answer them. But we have also written them below:
- What is the only national flag that has a different design on both sides?
- Which island nation has this flag? (The flag is in the video, but it is a blue flag with a white star in the top left corner, and two diagonal lines going from the bottom left to the top right. One line is orange and the other is white).
- What animal appears on the flag of the Falkland Islands?
- Which country has a flag with a section of carpet on it, representing the country’s longstanding carpet industry?
- It’s often quoted no national flag has purple on it, but that isn’t true, because this one does. What country is that? (The flag shown in the video is a green flag with a cross in the middle made up of yellow, black, and white. In the very centre is a red oval lined with stars, and a picture of a parrot-like bird with green, blue, and purple feathers).
Answers
- Paraguay
- Marshall Islands
- Sheep
- Turkmenistan
- Dominica
To provide more context, Darragh explained Paraguay’s flag has the national coat of arms on one side and the treasury seal on the other. He also said the final answer, Dominica, should not be confused with the Dominican Republic, although they are “very easy to mix up”.
Commenters on the video admitted they struggled to answer every problem on the quiz, with some only being able to get one of the five questions right.
One person said: “I got 1/5. But I learnt four things so I’ll take that as a win!”
Another added: “4/5. I didn’t have a clue about the Paraguay flag being different. It’s an interesting fact to remember.”
A third wrote: “3 out of 5. Never even seen the other side of the Paraguay flag.”
