There are many hidden gems in the world waiting to be discovered and one woman shared details of her trip to a stunning remote destination that you can only reach by boat
The world boasts countless captivating spots, with some famous and others more unknown. Certain places lie in secluded areas that are challenging to reach but offer incredible rewards.
Raimee, a travel professional and content creator, provides travel guides, tips, and holiday recommendations. She recently explored Doubtful Sound, a fjord located in Fiordland National Park in the remote southwest of New Zealand. This area is celebrated for its expansive, unspoiled wilderness, profound silence, and pristine natural beauty. Doubtful Sound remains accessible solely through a boat journey across Lake Manapouri followed by a bus ride over Wilmot Pass, while Milford Sound, another Fiordland fjord, offers direct car access.
The traveller posted an Instagram video documenting her adventure through this New Zealand hidden gem.
She explained: “I’m about to spend the night in one of the most remote places in the world and this is what it’s like.
“To get there I have to take an hour-long ferry to about an hour-long bus through the mountains and get on another big ship to end up here.
“This is Doubtful Sound in New Zealand. You may have heard of Milford Sound, it’s very famous, but not a lot of people visit Doubtful Sound because it is more difficult to get to but that’s what makes it so much more magical.”
The travel specialist passed the evening aboard a ship, which she described as the only craft in the waters.
Raimee had fun kayaking through the fjords and admiring the cascading waterfalls. Now Raimee strongly urges her followers to explore Doubtful Sound if they go on a trip to New Zealand.
She said: “This was probably my favourite thing I did on my entire trip there. There are a few companies that have tours like this where you can stay the night or two nights on a boat. We had amazing guides with us that showed us wildlife and all meals were included.”
The content creator revealed the excursion was more on the pricier side but insisted it was worthwhile.
In her Instagram caption she wrote: “No civilisation, no roads to get here, one of the most magical places I’ve ever been!
“This place is called the Sound of Silence for a reason and you’ll rarely experience anything quite like it!”
The footage has racked up many views, likes and comments. One viewer noted: “The reflection on the water! Oh my God.”
Another remarked: “That water is so glassy!!! Stunning.” A third chimed in: “It’s even more magical in the rain because there are so many waterfalls. It’s an amazing day trip as well but I’m so jealous that you spent the night.”
Someone else wrote: “This looks incredible! I will need to note this for a future trip there!”
