Benidorm welcomes millions of tourists each year, with visitors keen to make the most of its famed nightlife, sandy beaches and warm sunshine. A mum ventured to one Benidorm venue but wasn’t impressed

A mum has grumbled about the time evening entertainment continued until the early hours at a popular Benidorm resort but everyone told her the same thing. Benidorm is a popular seaside municipality in Spain, famed for its thriving nightlife, its array of hotels and skyscrapers, its sandy beaches and more.

It’s a top choice for many hen and stag parties, while others praise its Old Town and the beauty of its natural, rugged coastlines which are a stark contrast to the more typical, hedonistic images more classically associated with Benidorm. Last year, the Spanish hotspot welcomed around three million visitors and it’s believed 900,000 of them came from the UK. Its popularity is enduring, with people from all walks of life keen to indulge in the sun, sand and entertainment.

Mum Mel booked to stay at Magic Tropical Splash with her children but was disappointed to learn the resort’s in-house entertainment would continue until 11.30 or 11.45pm each evening.

She shared a video taken from the balcony of her room, showing the empty entertainment area below while loud music continued to play.

Over the top of the footage, she penned: “11:30/11:45 every night. How are kids meant to sleep [facepalm emoji]”.

In the caption, she added: “I strongly suggest that if you have an infant or young child that you don’t go to Magic Tropical Splash. This is the volume of noise till 11:30/11:45 at night. Honestly ridiculous”.

Magic Tropical Splash isn’t based on Benidorm’s party strip and is very close to Parque de Elche, a quiet and serene park found on the promenade at the end of Poniente Beach.

It’s popular with families thanks to its laidback atmosphere, its fountains, and its regular sightings of doves.

Still, fellow TikTok users in the comments section were critical of Mel’s expectation of quiet while holidaying in Benidorm.

One person said: “Who the f*** takes a kid to Benidorm”, adding a crying laughing emoji.

To which, another TikTok user replied: “It’s actually lovely, easy to avoid the strip at night, beach spotless”.

A third simply said: “Your first mistake was choosing Benidorm”.

A fourth asked: “What do you expect, it’s Benidorm, not really a family holiday?”

Someone else quipped: “You throw hands about this but when your kid is kicking off at 3am screaming the hotel down and waking people up it’s crickets”.

Another TikTok user said: “Bit of a bizarre place to go for a quiet holiday”.

One person stated: “the world doesn’t stop because you have children.”

Another TikTok user replied: “Yes but this hotel is nowhere near the strip and the noise is coming from the hotel itself which is a family hotel”.

Offering a more sympathetic view, someone else said: “Excessive entertainment at that time considering there is hardly anybody still sat out”.

One parent shared: “I got my kids used to music from a young age. They would sleep through this.”

Mel replied: “Mine slept, I was just saying it was loud haha. People have gone crazy saying I said my kid, I never did”.
