Croydon man, 28, accused of attempted murder after stabbing on residential street

A man from Croydon has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing rocked a residential street over the weekend. Lavar Jones-Foots, 28, of Meadow View Road is accused of knifing a man, in his 30s, in Thornton Heath in the early hours of Saturday, October 11.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Metropolitan Police said. Officers were called to Meadow View Road shortly before 9.30pm amid reports someone had been stabbed.

Jones-Foots was arrested soon after and charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday (October 13) where he was remanded in custody.

The South Londoner is due to appear at the Old Bailey on November 10 to begin his trial.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged with attempted murder after a man in his 30s was stabbed on Saturday, 11 October on Meadow View Road, Croydon.

“Lavar Jones-Foots, 28 (17.07.1997), of Meadow View Road, Croydon, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

“He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 October where he was remanded in custody. He will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 10 November.

“A man in his 30s was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he was assessed to have non-life-threatening injuries.”
