The altercation took place at a station in East London late at night
A CCTV appeal has been launched to find a man who slapped a fellow London Underground passenger. The victim was struck as he travelled through East London on the Central line between 11.40pm and 11.50pm on Sunday, August 24.
As the train pulled into Ilford’s Newbury Park station, an altercation between the two men spiralled into a fight on the platform. A member of the public was also assaulted when they attempted to intervene.
The suspect then left the building and boarded a bus. He is yet to be traced nearly two months on.
The British Transport Police (BTP) is now hoping the public can identify a person of interest. An image released in connection shows a young Black man with curly black hair and of slim build.
He is wearing a black hoodie, black jeans or trousers and black shoes. He also appears to be carrying a black backpack.
A statement from BTP reads: “Officers believe the man in the image may have information that can help their investigation.”
The appeal comes days after MyLondon reported the assault of a woman by a bag snatcher in Croydon. She was left bruised and in shock after a man pulled to the ground at George Street Tram stop on July 30.
Anyone with information, who recognises the man or who may have seen the incident is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 838 of 24 August. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
