The true value of the stolen goods is unknown
Brazen thieves allegedly launched a safe packed full of expensive jewels out a fourth floor window during a shocking heist. Police raced to jewellery quarter Hatton Garden at about 1.40am yesterday morning (Tuesday, October 21) to reports of the burglary.
They attended and found the safe had been thrown off the fourth floor. It was packed full of watches, jewellery, and cash, although the full value of the stolen goods is not yet known.
There have been no arrests. Footage shared on X – formerly known as Twitter – shows forensics gathering clues while a white tent was erected to preserve evidence. The camera then zooms into the broken window, which was shattered with holes in it.
A Met spokesperson said: “At around 1.40am on Tuesday, October 21, police responded to reports of a burglary in Hatton Garden, Camden. Officers attended the scene and found that a safe had been pushed out of a fourth-floor window and subsequently stolen.
“It is believed the safe contained watches, jewellery and cash, although the full extent of what has been stolen is currently unknown. No arrests have been made at this early stage and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or online, quoting ref CAD 439/21OCT.”
