The huge new £300million holiday resort in the UK will include a ski slope and tropical water park as well as a fancy hotel, charming lodges and plenty more for families
As if we needed another reason to plan a staycation, new images have offered up a sneak peek of the astonishing plans for a brand-new £300 million holiday resort in Wales.
The ‘world-class’ Rhydycar West development, nestled in Merthyr Tydfil, boasts fancy features that include a ski slope and tropical water park, offering a total transformation that will turn the area into a striking tourist hub, reports North Wales Live.
This magnificent venue proposes to have the UK’s largest and longest indoor snow centre, an adventure centre providing both indoor and outdoor fun, charming woodland lodges, and an opulent hotel with specialised sport, family and spa wings as well as conference facilities.
The ambitious scheme estimates the creation of approximately 1,500 jobs during the build phase and around 800 steady roles once fully operational. Now new CGI images have the potential design of the resort. Marvel Ltd, the owners of the land, are hoping Rhydycar West will inject a whopping £38.1 million into the economy annually.
Those spearheading the project have stated their aim is to “provide a unique and unparalleled experience for visitors of all ages, making Rhydycar West a must-visit ‘all year round’ destination for both local and international tourists.”
Plans for the Rhydycar West project in Merthyr Tydfil, which were submitted to the council back in March 2023, are still stuck in the planning phase despite hopes for progress post-Christmas. Developers have been grappling with delays but recently announced that they’re on the verge of completion.
A spokesperson for the development team expressed their commitment to the project, stating: “We appreciate the opportunity to provide an update on the Rhydycar West project. We have been and continue to work closely with Merthyr council and other stakeholders in connection with the planning application.
“Over the past months, this has involved responding to requests for additional information and preparing further reports and surveys which has encompassed ongoing collaboration with the council and National stakeholders. We have prepared and provided various additional documentation. Further work is in progress and nearing completion.”
They also acknowledged the public’s eagerness for the project’s fruition, adding: “Our team is aware of the considerable anticipation and excitement surrounding the Rhydycar West project, a sentiment we wholeheartedly share. We are also very much looking forward to concluding the planning process as soon as possible.”
