Rapper and Netflix star charged after fatal Ilford hit-and-run

The rapper, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, 41, has been remanded into custody

The rapper Ghetts has been accused of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal hit-and-run in Ilford. The musician, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, 41 allegedly failed to stop after hitting a 20-year-old man in Redbridge Lane East on Saturday, October 18.

Mr Clarke-Samuel appeared at Stratford Magistrates/ Court on Monday, the same day the man died in hospital. The indictment is expected to change from causing serious injury to causing death by dangerous driving at the next hearing, the BBC reports.

The rapper from Woodford Green was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 27. Ghetts is a mercury award nominated artist and has collaborated with Ed Sheeran and Stormzy.

He is also known for his supporting role in the Netflix show Supacell.
