Met Office says temperatures could be ‘slightly above average for the time of year’
It’s been a dreary autumn so far, with days of rainfall and plunging temperatures leaving Londoners in no doubt about the change of season. Today (Sunday, October 26) the clocks go back one hour, adding to the gloom as the dark nights are once again upon us.
Summer may seem like a distant memory – but we’re not completely out of days of sunshine just yet. Long range forecasts from BBC Weather and the Met Office predict a resurgence of sunshine in early November. But which day is it?
According to BBC Weather, London will get another day of basking in the sun on Tuesday, November 4 , with temperatures reaching a lukewarm 14C for much of the afternoon. It may not feel exactly hot, but it will be warmer than general for the time of year with non-stop sunshine set to last until late afternoon.
It’s a prediction which is echoed by the Met Office long-range forecast, which states “temperatures overall will probably be close to or slightly above average for the time of year”, with “some short lived dry and bright intervals”.
In the meantime though, Londoners can expect more patchy weather. The evening of Sunday, October 26, will see more rainfall hitting a peak between 7pm and 8pm before gradually pashing out. Tomorrow (Monday) will see a dry and cloudy day with a top temperature of 13C, while Tuesday, October 28, will be warmer with a peak of 15C and some mild sunshine.
Temperatures will remain stable for the rest of the week, hovering between 14C and 15C in mid afternoon, with some light rain on Wednesday and patches of rain on on Thursday and Friday, with plenty of drizzle expected next weekend. But the BBC’s long range forecast predicts a return to sunshine on Tuesday, November 4, although some light rain may resume in the evening.
Despite a soggy start to November, the Met Office expects drier conditions for the second half of the month, noting: “During the second half of November, the most probable outcome is for increasing amounts of dry and fine weather, although with some overnight fog and frost.”
