With the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepping out to steal the show at a baseball game in Los Angeles, body language expert Judi James believes there was more to their front-row date night than meets the eye
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out for a unique date night, sitting front row at the LA Dodgers baseball game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were snapped by fans looking loved up and enthralled in the game, while they also appeared on the big screen in front of the sold-out crowd. Harry and Meghan dressed in simple attire for the game while sporting LA Dodgers hats in a display of support for their local team.
While the royal couple seemed passionate about the game and enamoured with each other, a body language expert believes there could be more than meets the eye for their high-profile date.

Judi James believes that while the Sussexes cuddled up with each other as they posed for photos with beaming smiles, they could have been “very aware” of their public image, and may have subtly tried to stage candid photos.
She told the Mirror : “Meghan clearly slides over to cosy up to her husband for specific photos, curling in to register high levels of affection. There are hints that the pair were very aware of their visual image here though.
“In one pose they appear to be engrossed in the game, with Meghan’s fingers up over her mouth and both staring ahead. The people behind them show contradictory poses though, appearing to be chatting and milling around as though this is not a defining moment on the pitch. The couple might have been watching the big screen though to see if their images went up to judge the reception of the fans here.”
Despite their possible staging during the game, Judi said that the Sussexes clearly enjoyed themselves at the exhilarating game, while also seemingly enjoying the attention of being front and centre in seats that can cost up to $10,000.
She said: “While many celebrities prefer to watch their sport in virtual anonymity from the back rows, Harry and Meghan preferred to enjoy as high a profile as possible by sitting in the front row here, ahead of iconic stars of the game who were seated behind them, making themselves human catnip for camera attention on this baseball ‘date night’ in LA.”
“Their body language fluctuated,” Judi added. “At times they sat unsmiling and even showing some signs of inner tension with Harry clutching at his little finger while Meghan delivered a ‘broken wing’ gesture, clutching her neck or her necklaces with a raised hand and a bent wrist in an elegant, regal-looking gesture of specialness.”
“Even in the grin being exchanged between the pair here we can see Harry’s teeth looking edge-to-edge clenched, suggesting all the camera posing might have been compromising his relaxed enjoyment of the game.”
Harry and Meghan weren’t the only celebrities in the crowd for the World Series game, as James Marsden, Austin Butler, Sydney Sweeney and Tobey Maguire were also in the stands.
Sitting just behind the Sussexes were sporting royalty, with Former basketball player Magic Johnson and baseball icon Sandy Koufax sat in the second row. Magic is a part-owner of the LA team while Sandy is a four-time World Series winner and Hall of Fame pitcher.
