Two people have been taken to hospital following a ‘serious’ multi-lorry crash on the M25 this morning (October 29). Traffic ground to a halt at the Enfield, Hertfordshire and Essex border at 8.30am when emergency crews descended on the Holmesdale Tunnel.
One of the injured people was flown from the scene by an air ambulance, whilst the other was transported by road. The extent of their injuries is yet to be confirmed.
National Highways says there is six miles of congestion on approach to the clockwise closure between J25 Waltham Cross and J26 Waltham Abbey. Queues are tailing back to J24, with delays reaching one hour or more.
Normal road conditions are expected to resumed at around 4.30pm, though this is subject to change.
The collision happened hours after a vehicle fire closed the the M25 between Romford and Brentwood.
