When attending a glitzy A-list Kardashian party over the weekend, Prince Harry was seen proudly donning a remembrance poppy, but his wife, Duchess Meghan went without one

Stepping out at a lavish party, Harry had a poppy pinned proudly to his chest, but Meghan didn’t do the same for one particular reason. Meghan and Prince Harry spent Remembrance weekend at a glitzy birthday party for a reality TV star, whilst the rest of the Royal Family attended sombre events paying tribute to those who lost their lives fighting for their country.

Just days before, Harry had been in Canada for Remembrancetide, where he spent hours honouring the military community, and even released a candid, emotional essay, beseeching the public to ensure they support former servicepeople all year round. On Saturday, the couple attended reality TV star Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, which was held at Amazon boss, Jeff Bezo’s, mega mansion in California.

The glitzy affair saw guests don James Bond-themed outfits to celebrate the Kardashian matriarch’s landmark birthday, and Harry didn’t miss the opportunity in the spotlight to show his support to the military community once again, wearing a poppy pin on his dapper suit jacket. Meghan, who wore a stunning all black look, wasn’t able to wear one of the poppy pins – despite always being seen wearing one in previous years.

Meghan’s look – a figure-hugging black roll-neck top paired with a chic black skirt featuring a daring split – was accessorised with a pair of dangling link diamond earrings, strappy heels, and a timeless black clutch bag. She didn’t wear a poppy badge this year, a source told the Daily Mail, because they are hard to find in California.

The badges can be bought from the Royal British Legion from across the globe, but they come with a hefty postage fee. Harry is reported to have nabbed his whilst he was in Canada when he made a donation to the charity that supports former members of the military community.

Despite not being able to get her hands on one this year, for the last two years before this, Meghan has proudly donned one alongside her husband in support of Remembrance. The Duchess and Harry released a video last year about online safety for children, in which she had a five-petaled poppy badge pinned to her smart navy blazer.

Whilst Meghan might have been disappointed not to pay tribute to fallen servicepeople and the veteran community this year through the wearing of the symbol, Harry’s made it a major focus of his last week of events. In a moving essay titled “The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British”, Harry made a point of noting that servicepeople need the support of their communities once the “uniform comes off”.

Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan, also wrote about what he loves the most about being British in the touching essay, “Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for.

“The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands – ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it,” the Duke wrote.
