The Prince and Princess of Wales have made a small yet significant change to their social media accounts after a busy weekend for the royal family

Prince William and Princess Kate have made a quiet yet poignant change to their social media accounts for a touching reason. The Prince and Princess of Wales were reunited over the weekend after William’s whirlwind trip to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize awards, with the royal couple joining the King and Queen for a Remembrance Sunday service in London.

In honour of the Remembrance period, the pair updated their profile picture on their Instagram and X accounts, with the new image featuring William and Kate at the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance in 2024. They also changed their banner photo on X to a field of poppies, with the Kensington Royal social media accounts making this change each year to honour the war dead.

William was unable to attend the 2025 event at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night, with 12-year-old Prince George going in his place.

The young royal made his grand debut at the poignant event and took his duties seriously as he took his place in the Royal Box alongside his mother. The decision for George to attend marked a major step towards preparing for his future role as king.

The change of profile photo came at the same time as Princess Kate and Prince William issued a message about the annual Festival of Remembrance. “A special evening at The Royal Albert Hall for this year’s Festival of Remembrance, honouring the service of, and the sacrifices made by the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces community,” they wrote on X.

Taking to X on Sunday, too, the couple penned: “On Remembrance Sunday, we pause to reflect on the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of all who have served – and continue to serve – in defence of our freedoms. We remember them, today and always.”

They later added: “Each year it is an honour to take part in Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph in London alongside other members of the Royal Family and in front of veterans and their families. Lest We Forget.”

On Sunday, King Charles led the nation in honouring the war dead on Remembrance Sunday at a ceremony attended by thousands of veterans. Prince William, dressed in Field Marshal uniform with a ceremonial frock coat, laid a wreath and saluted, while Kate watched from the balcony alongside Queen Camilla.

The royal family have also been marking Armistice Day today, with Kate leading the nation as it fell silent at 11am to remember the war dead at an emotional event today. Kate is at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to mark Armistice Day, where she will later lay a wreath and meet the families of serving military personnel, their families, as well as veterans.

The crowd stood as she arrived to take her seat for the service, which featured a reading of a specially commissioned poem by the Arboretum’s poet in residence, Arji Manuelpillai, which the Palace said “reflects the importance of personal connections, experiences and bonds that are formed through military service” and are themes close to Kate’s heart.

Queen Camilla also marked the day as she jumped onboard a train this morning to take part in a ‘Poppies to Paddington’ initiative. Camilla took the 9:28am service from Chippenham in Wiltshire to Paddington in London alongside stunned commuters to lay a wreath on Platform 1.
