Sarah Ferguson previously described the late billionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein as a “supreme friend” in an email she sent to him after she distanced herself from him

Disgraced Sarah Ferguson is reportedly ready to flee the UK amid the unfolding Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

The former Duchess is reportedly eyeing up a guest suite at a £3.6 million luxury oceanfront villa in Portugal that is owned by her daughter Princess Eugenie and her businessman husband Jack Brooksbank, a close friend claimed. The apparent move comes as she and ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten Windsor prepare to move out from their long-term Royal Lodge residence.

Fergie and Andrew were booted from the plush estate amid ongoing controversy surrounding their connections to the late billionaire child sex trafficker Epstein. Andrew has denied any wrongdoing in connection to his former pal Epstein’s crimes.

Fergie was removed from multiple charities after a 2011 email showed her calling Epstein her “supreme friend” after he was convicted of child sex offences, reports the Express. She also appeared to apologise to him over her public criticism of him.

In the email, Fergie said: “You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family.” The message appeared to contradict previous statements she previously made where she branded her involvement with him a “gigantic error of judgement” and said he had been “rightly jailed”.

Fergie also claimed she would “have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again”. Her email later showed she had “humbly apologised to him”.

A spokesperson for the former Duchess later said the email had been written in order to counter a threat of legal action from him. The spokesperson previously said: “This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”

Fergie is said to have been on the “verge of a breakdown” amid all of the fallout from the Epstein files, according to royal expert Phil Dampier, who had spoken to one of her friends.

He added: “I’m told she has been on the edge of a nervous breakdown. I can reveal her older sister Jane has recently flown over from Australia to comfort her in the UK.”

When Fergie and Andrew vacate the Royal Lodge early next year, it will bring an end to their lengthy living arrangement, despite having divorced in 1996. Andrew is now expected to move into the Sandringham estate after he was stripped of his titles by his brother King Charles.
