Ocado have hopped onto the viral 6-7 trend, and although it’s left many customers confused and wondering what’s going on, others have found it absolutely hilarious
It’s a trend that has taken the world by storm, and despite the fact that most people over the age of 25 still don’t really understand it, the viral 6-7 trend, which has been banned from classrooms up and down the country, is everywhere. Parents have been desperately trying to find out what it means, as though it’s a secret language their kids are speaking, while kids are losing their minds at the fact that it basically means…well, nothing.
But this hasn’t stopped online UK supermarket Ocado from hopping on the viral trend with its own spin-off, and the fact that the video features fully grown adults makes it all the more hilarious.
In the video, one Ocado driver asked a customer whether he had any return bags, and he replied: “Er, yeah, I’ve got about 6 or 7?”
“Ha!” the Ocado driver explained, as he repeated “6-7!”
The customer then said: “Actually, it’s 8,” as the colour faded to black and white and a song played in the background – “6-7 I’m giving up on you,” a version of A Great Big World’s hit ‘Say Something’.
“Social media team cooked with this one. Phenomenal,” someone praised.
Another called for them to “get a raise” for hopping on the 6-7 trend.
“This deserves more likes I think if this app was aimed at the younger generation it’d be viral,” one man shared, with some pointing out that not many people in the comments section actually “got it”.
“If you know, you know,” somebody who was familiar with the trend said.
While one mum joked: “Lol nobody understood what he’s doing… guess me as a boy mum, all I hear is this 6-7!”
Explanation behind the 6-7 trend
One TikToker recently took to the platform to explain the viral 6-7 trend to people, saying that she was going to give a “quick breakdown of what it means and how it started”.
“One, two, three, four, five…six-seven,” Marie Achkar started her video, explaining that if you’ve been seeing this viral trend all around social media, or maybe you’ve heard it from your kids, “you’re not alone”.
She said that right now, there are over two million posts on TikTok under the 6-7 hashtag.
Marie said: “It all started in December of 2024, when hip hop artist Skrilla released a song called ‘doot doot’. And one of the lyrics includes the phrase 6-7.
“The trend really took off earlier this year when creators started pairing that song with edits of Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, who is, fittingly, six foot seven.
“Now the phrase is sweeping schools and social media feeds everywhere, and right now, there’s even a viral video of order number 67 being called at an In-N-Out in California, and the crowd goes wild”.
Marie then included the viral clip, and when the server says 6-7, it’s true, everyone jumped up and down as though their favourite sports team had just scored a goal.
“So, if you’re wondering what it actually means, the answer is nothing. Yep, that’s right, it’s basically meaningless. It’s part of the joke and why everyone is basically jumping on the trend,” she finished the video by saying.
