Olympian Tom Daley has just launched a brand new Christmas cardigan, and you can be in with a chance of winning one for yourself – plus £500 for the festive season

Apart from his impressive career as an Olympic diver, Tom Daley has also become known for his amazing knitted creations. The athlete has shared plenty of his hand-knitted creations over the years, which is why his latest collaboration makes perfect sense.

Tom has teamed up with the National Lottery – which gave him funding to help cover training and competition expenses – to create the first ever ‘Scratchcard-igan’ in time for Christmas. The festive cardigan was inspired by National Lottery Scratchcards, and just like the scratchcards, one in four of them can help you win a huge £500 prize.

There are only 100 of the cardigans up for grabs, and to get your hands on one, you need to follow @tnluk on Instagram and comment “Merry Scratchmas” on the pinned post between November 10 – 30. Out of all the entrants 100 will be chosen at random to receive their very own Scratchcard-igan from December 1.

Although the cardigan itself is perfect for bringing a little bit of festive joy to your Christmas season, it’s also been designed to be “scratchable” thanks to its sequin panels. The sequins can be pushed into the opposite direction to reveal if you’ve won a prize.

If you see the word ‘Win’ on one of the panels, then the £500 prize is yours. But even if you’re not a winner of the cash prize, the cardigan itself is still a limited edition collectible which you can bring out Christmas after Christmas.

Tom Daley said: “I’ve made a few cardigans in my time, but I’ve never seen one quite like this! Knitting has always been a way for me to spread joy and creativity, and teaming up with The National Lottery lets me do that in a wonderfully festive way. The Scratchcard-igan feels like the kind of thing that could easily become part of people’s Christmas traditions – playful, cheerful and a reminder that a little everyday fun can go a long way. I can’t wait to see people wearing theirs and scratching their way to some holiday cheer!”

As with any competition there are Ts&Cs to read, and of course not everyone will be lucky enough to win one of the knits – or one of the £500 prizes. However there are plenty of other festive jumpers around that you can snap up, like the National History Museum’s T. rex Skull Christmas Jumper for £45, with the money helping towards the running of the iconic museum.

You could also pick up great men’s and women’s festive jumper options from Marks & Spencer, New Look and Tu at Sainsbury’s to get your own for the season. And if you still want to do your bit for charity you can wear your new jumper during Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, which falls on Thursday December 11 this year.

Simply wear your favourite festive knit, donate to a great cause, and do your bit for charity whilst getting in the festive spirit.
