The M11 was closed for several hours after the crash
Police have not held back in criticising selfish ‘frustrated’ drivers on the M11 who got out of their cars and others trying to reverse along the hard shoulder while emergency services treated several people injured following a major crash. Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway between junctions six and five, for the Loughton interchange, shortly before 1am The motorway remained closed for several hours whilst emergency crews dealt with the incident.
It is not known at this time how many people were injured or their conditions. Essex Police have slammed driver for making the efforts of the emergency services more difficult. The force has revealed officers encountered several difficulties whilst attending the scene, with some motorists leaving their vehicles and others trying to reverse along the hard shoulder.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “While we understand people’s frustrations when they are faced with a delay in their journey, it is vital that people behave responsibly and follow the rules of the road.
