It’s getting cold outside, but that doesn’t mean all of us can afford to stick the heating on high or use a tumble dryer to sort our laundry. But one expert has a genius solution
As household bills soar, lots of us are seeking the quickest way to dry our laundry indoors, without spending too much cash. As it moves into the period of winter where it’s just freezing cold and wet all the time, it can be tough to dry clothes efficiently.
Luckily there’s a solution – and it is very, very, easy. However, it’s not going to be something you can do to your entire laundry basket, just one or two items when you’re in a pinch.
YouTube Tor Rydder, who runs the channel Organising TV, he’s shared the ‘burrito’ method – which lets you dry clothes in just five minutes with no tumble dryer needed.
The easy technique only requires a towel and the floor – like we said, very easy!

Simply place your newly washed garment down on a towel, then roll and fold the towel until it has fully encased the item of clothing. Then, using your knees, press into the towel so it can absorb all of the water from the garment.
“Once we unwrap it, it will be a lot drier,” Rydder said in his YouTube video. He explained you could also wring out the ‘burrito’ if you’d rather not step or kneel on the towel. Once you have kneeled or wrung out the excess water, you can unroll the towel and retrieve the T-shirt.
“I do find that this method will easily reduce drying time from overnight to a couple of hours,” Rydder added. “If you’re in a hotter climate, you can probably wear it out and it’ll dry on its own.”
On its own, this method should dry your clothes in a couple hours. If you don’t have time to wait for a couple of hours and you’re in a colder place, he recommends putting the top on a hanger and blasting it with a hair dryer for a maximum of five minutes. If you don’t have a hanger, you can put it on a sink or chair.
Fans were in awe of Tor’s “burrito method”. One man confirmed that this method works, stating “I was in a bit of a jam. This was brilliant! I don’t have a hair dryer, but I’m using a rotary fan to dry off two of my shirts. Thank you!
Another commenter had an even more unusual routine, adding: “I typically dry t-shirts way faster than that by placing them in the microwave for 10 to 22 seconds are then take it out. Spin it around my head a few times till it cools off a bit. Put it back in the microwave. Do that a few times. Dry 4 minutes maybe.”
