The Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum is just one popular skincare product included in the Paula’s Choice bestsellers sale

Retinol is a common ingredient used in skincare thanks to its anti-ageing properties and beauty buffs are insisting that the Paula’s Choice Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum is their “favourite retinol serum of all time.”

The “desert island item” that users claim makes “skin look brighter, feel smoother and shrinks pores” typically retails for £44 but is currently £37.40 as part of the Paula’s Choice bestsellers sale, making it 15% cheaper than Amazon.

Formulated with a blend of pure retinol and antioxidants to help minimise the appearance of wrinkles, improve firmness and brighten skin, the serum can be applied morning or in the evening to the face and neck. Shoppers say that the product has a “rich texture” so only a small amount is needed and you should start to see results within a few weeks.

On the Paula’s Choice website, the retinol serum has received an average 4.1 out of five stars from over 100 reviewers with many impressed with the visible improvement of the appearance of their complexion and neck after using. One person said: “Love this serum – I genuinely can see that my blackheads have shrunk having used this a few times a week.”

Another wrote: “I was suffering with acne for a long time now and trying Paula’s Choice has made a difference on my skin. I have noticed my skin has become smoother and my breakouts on my skin are slowly fading. Game changer if you ask me.”

A third commented: “This is such a lovely product for a 50 year old going through the menopause – can’t recommend it highly enough and I have used many, many products. I started using this about 8 weeks ago and while initially I didn’t like it as it seemed to make my skin dryer, I started putting on my neck every day and on my face every other day.

“My neck is noticeably firmer! I never thought this product would actually work! My skin looks younger and my neck is completely transformed. Will definitely keep buying.”

However, not everyone was happy as it has been noted that you will require some “patience” when using the serum as it can take a few months for some people to notice a difference. As with all retinol products, you should be careful introducing it into your skincare routine. Although shoppers claim Paula’s Choice retinol serum “did not cause any redness on extremely sensitive skin,” the amount and frequency you apply it should be built up slowly.

It is also best to apply a daily SPF if you are using retinol – the Paula’s Choice Anti-Ageing Moisturiser with SPF50 is £33.15 down from £39, or the No7 Future Renew Day Cream SPF40 is £34.95 from Boots.

You can also shop the entire Paula’s Choice sale here, or find more money-saving skincare in The Cult Beauty x Paula’s Choice Edit Box – it’s filled with products worth £79 but retails for just £39. One of the skincare brands’ most popular items is included, the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, which some shoppers say “cleared up their skin” in a matter of days.
