Andrew Lownie, who penned an explosive biography about the former Duke and Duchess of York, has revealed how Sarah Ferguson will follow in the steps of Harry and Meghan after she had ‘abandoned’ her ex-husband
A royal expert has claimed that Sarah Ferguson has ‘abandoned’ her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and is set to go out on her own as she contemplates a move abroad.
Rumours have emerged that the former Duchess of York is looking at relocating to Portugal, where her daughter Princess Eugenie and her husband reside for half of the year, after they bought an oceanfront £3.6million mansion in May 2022.
However, Andrew Lownie, who penned the recent biography detailing the rise and fall of the house of York, believes there could be another destination on the cards for Fergie, as her dramatic exit from the royal family seems to be drawing parallels to Megxit in 2020.

With Andrew and Fergie facing their imminent eviction from the Royal Lodge, Lownie believes that she is distancing herself from her ex-husband as his public image and reputation continue to unravel.
Lownie told the Express: “Fergie’s abandoned him, he’s lost his attraction, now he’s no longer in Royal Lodge and a Prince. And she’s gonna do her own thing. She’s kind of gonna it’s a bit like Meghan and Harry, lots and lots of parallels there.
“So I don’t know where she goes. She may go to Switzerland, I think she may, you know, could go quietly somewhere in London, keep low for a while, but I think she’ll be back.”
The royal biographer also spoke about the decision to strip Andrew and Fergie of their titles and boot them from the Royal Lodge, saying the public pressure mounting on King Charles to discipline the Yorks helped seal their fate.
“There is a contract between the people and the monarchy,” the author said. “They get respect when they serve us well. When they behave in ways seen as self-serving, they’re in trouble.”
Sarah Ferguson’s fall from grace began when an email she sent to billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 resurfaced, in which she called the convicted sex offender a “supreme friend” despite denouncing him in the press.
With Fergie’s future still up in the air as many claim she could move abroad, royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror that the distance between Sarah and Andrew speaks volumes on the status of their relationship.
She said: “I am surprised that it seems Sarah and Andrew are now going their separate ways. I thought they were joined at the hip, even though no longer in a romantic relationship.
“Sarah has always been so fiercely loyal to Andrew, defending him even in the face of the most sordid allegations. Perhaps she no longer believes him, or perhaps Andrew now wants to be on his own.”
