The M4 is currently closed due to an earlier crash – with an oil spillage meaning it will be completely shut off to drivers overnight.

The motorway is shut eastbound between junction 12 Theale and junction 11 Reading. Two lanes out of four are closed after the collision and oil spillage, National Highways said.

According to National Highways, the incident occurred just after 8pm on Tuesday (November 18) evening.

Emergency services attended the scene and a casualty was taken away by ambulance.

Due to an oil spillage the road will be completely closed from 12am for resurfacing and diversions will be in place.

At the time of the incident a National Highways spokesperson said: “On the M4 eastbound between J12 Theale and J11 Reading, three lanes (of four lanes) are closed due to a collision.

“The ambulance has just left scene with the casualty. Delays of 45 minutes, four miles of congestion.”
