All it took was a quick trip to the doctor’s office after her husband had been away on a trip, and one woman found that her entire world had simply ‘fallen apart’
One woman has opened up about her nightmare discovery when her husband got home from travelling for work.
Without trust as a foundation, it’s hard to have a successful relationship – and few things that are harder to move past than a betrayal. And for one woman all it took was a simple trip to see her doctor for her to realise that her marriage was nothing like it seemed on the surface.
She attended the doctor’s appointment with no idea that her whole world would “fall apart” so quickly, but the test results she received showed that her husband had been lying to her.
The woman posted on Reddit with her dilemma, looking for advice on what steps she should take next, and explained that her husband’s job requires him to travel regularly, sometimes for weeks on end. When he came back from his most recent work trip, she was delighted he had returned “as usual”.
She explained there had been a change in their sex life, because her husband had experienced pain in his penis when they last did the deed. “Days passed,” she explained, but his symptoms only got worse, and she came down with conjunctivitis.
They took a trip to the doctor’s office and the test results revealed that they both were positive for gonorrhea – a sexually transmitted infection. Initially, her husband tried to blame her, but “after a lot of fighting and crying” he admitted that “he had been with an ‘escort’ not once, but twice and that he always used protection.”
“I feel devastated,” the woman wrote. “Honestly how do you overcome something like this? I mean, is he telling the truth after all? Did he even care about my health? He lied to me and made [me] feel guilty about this. Now he is crying his eyes out asking for a second chance ’cause he never felt he was cheating.
“The truth is I don’t trust him anymore. We’ve been 15 years together and my world and confidence is falling apart.” Commenters were quick to advise the woman to end her marriage, and that it was unlikely there would be a way through for them as a couple.
“Why did he feel that it wasn’t cheating he had sex with an escort,” wrote one user. “It wasn’t cheating because he had a condom on? I think that’s what bothers me the most, as he doesn’t even acknowledge it as cheating, but wants forgiveness and to try again?”
Another commented: “Every time he travels for work you know what he will be doing. There is no coming back from a cheater that lies to you, blames it on you and then tells you it wasn’t cheating.”
