Even amongst lists of the most brutal killers, Russian cannibal Dmitry Luchin stands out as one of the most gruesome men to have ever walked the planet.

The brutal killer is well-known in Russia for murdering his partner back in 2018, with the details of the case shocking the Eastern European country. Luchin, who was just 23-years-old at the time, visited his 45-year-old partner Olga Budunova on the premise of celebrating International Women’s Day, but the creepy killer had far more sinister intentions. Moments after the pair shared wine together, Luchin smashed a bottle repeatedly over her head, killing her before methodically butchering her body with a meat cleaver. What happened next left even hardened detectives reeling.

The psycho murderer is said to have calmly roasted pieces of Budunova’s brain before eating them, washed down with a glass of her blood which he drained from her corpse. He tore out her stomach, hacked off her ears, placing one into her mouth and the other into the household cat’s bowl, and scrawled insults across her body in blood and purple nail polish.

Luchin, who is reported to be a satanic worshiper and occultist, then used her blood to daub devilish symbols into the door, in the hopes of summoning Lucifer himself. Despite his satanic intentions, he would later told police he tried the cooked brain pieces twice because he “liked the taste”.

Prosecutors said Luchin had become “obsessed” with serial killers, spending hours on creepy websites dedicated to murderers . During his trial, Luchin began reciting a bizarre poem from inside the metal cage he was held in, in which he insisted he was “no maniac, murderer or cannibal,” describing himself instead as a “student, sportsman and poet”.

Judge Alexey Stanovsky cut him off when he began ranting about notorious Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. Luchin was ruled mentally fit and convicted of murder with “special cruelty.” He will serve his 19-year sentence in a harsh-regime penal colony. Budunova’s devastated neighbours said they will never forget the monstrous scenes inside her flat. One added: “It was like something from another world. No human could do what he did.”
