The victim died at the scene after a horror crash involving ‘multiple vehicles’

A man has died after a crash in North West London. The horror crash, involving ‘multiple vehicles’, left Ruben Nunes, 34, from Peterborough, dead at the scene by Willesden Magistrates’ Court at about 12.45pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 3) on Chapel Close, Willesden.

Another man in his 30s was raced to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening. A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier today (Thursday, December 4) and is in custody.

A local police chief said locals should expect to see increased police presence in the area over the new few days as experts gather clues. He also urged anyone with information to come forward.

‘A distressing incident’

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said: “This is a distressing incident and we understand the concern it will cause for the local community.

“Our thoughts are with Ruben’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“If you live nearby, you can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their investigation. This will include an increase of officers on patrol – please do speak to them if you have any worries or concerns.

“You can also speak directly to local ward officers by signing up to and using Met Engage. If you know what happened, or have dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident, it is important that you please come forward and contact us.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.41pm (December 3) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Chapel Close and Chantry Crescent, Brent. We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.49pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 3) to reports of a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on Chapel Close in Willesden. One fire engine from Willesden Fire Station attended the scene.”

Second person dead in Brent in three days

Yesterday’s event is the second death to happen in the London Borough of Brent in three days. A 22-year-old died in hospital on Monday (December 1) after a stabbing on High Road Wembley, just before 1pm.

He was raced to A&E where he later died. Kevon Jenkins, 22, of Wharton Close, Brent, has been charged with murder and possession of a pointed and bladed article following the stabbing.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday (December 2) and will appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court today. A 21-year-old woman was arrested at the same time on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been bailed pending further enquiries.

There is no evidence to suggest that the deaths are linked.
