The duo wreaked havoc across Kent before they were caught
A pair of South London burglars stole a ring given to someone by their late husband and pawned other expensive jewels for almost ÂŁ7,500. Lorenzo King and Ricky Rixon committed their crimes across Sevenoaks and Tonbridge in Kent between October 9, 2023 and January 8 last year.
They’d break into homes by the back doors and rifle through their possessions before making their getaway, making tens of thousands each in the process. The ring they stole was pawned for scrap metal, but it has since been recovered.
Three times they stole car keys and the cars, and on four occasions, they took jewellery. At one point, they took a Seat Ibiza car, which was used in another break-in.
Rixon, 39, of Spindle Mews, Orpington, was arrested after police spotted the stolen car in Paddock Wood, Kent, and linked it to him. He was searched, and phone analysis led to the arrest of 36-year-old King, of Beckenham Road, in Beckenham.
CCTV footage recovered from one of the victims confirmed King was at the scene alongside the finding of a distinctive Nike tracksuit. The men were charged and later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and laundering criminal property.
Rixon and King were each sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court last Thursday (December 4) to five years and four months each.
Detective Constable Celia King, said: “Rixon and King smashed their way into homes, leaving their victims feeling frightened and vulnerable, before unscrupulously selling their sentimental items as scrap metal. The offenders went to great lengths to avoid detection by using face coverings and false registration plates on mission vehicles.
“We are grateful to the victims for their fast thinking in reporting the offences and for their unwavering support as officers worked to gather indisputable evidence that ultimately led to Rixon and King’s conviction.”
