The Chase’s ‘most ridiculous question’ according to Bradley Walsh – do you know it?

Do you reckon you have what it takes to crush the brainbox chasers? Check out this question that left host Bradley Walsh absolutely fuming – as he branded it ‘ridiculous’

If you’ve ever screamed answers at the TV whilst watching The Chase – this question is bound to rile you.

Sitting down at 5pm to watch the brainbox chasers crush the dreams of hopeful contestants is a British ritual. There have been many nail-biting moments, from Paul Sinha annihilating lone contestant Alan to those rare occasions when a chaser is completely stumped.

Some of the questions are seemingly impossible to answer, while others are just plain obvious. But there was one particular Q that host Bradley Walsh branded ‘the most ridiculous’ the show has ever had since its inception in 2009.

Back in 2021, contestant Oli racked up a respectable £6,000 in the cash builder round – and went head to head with Darragh Ennis, otherwise known as The Menace. But the studio was left baffled after host Bradley Walsh read out a rather unusual question.

“Which of these words is a combination of the names of a popular TV duo?” he said. The three possible answers were:

Oli and The Menace locked in their answer confidently, both opting for ‘Decant’. The contestant explained he thought the question could refer to Saturday Night Takeaway hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – who are commonly referred to as ‘Ant & Dec’.

“I mean, it’s the wrong way around for ‘decant’ so I’ve probably gone wrong,” he added. Luckily, he got the question right. “Of course, it must be Dec and Ant or Ant and Dec, whichever way you want to look at it,” Walsh said. “Nonetheless, [it’s] the most ridiculous question we’ve ever had in 10 years of The Chase.”
