A woman who claims she was unfairly sacked due to being ill in hospital with severe dizziness is revelling in the company ‘falling apart’ after she sought revenge
One boss messed with the wrong employee – and ended up regretting it big time.
A woman sought an epic revenge after claiming her boss fired her for being unwell. But, the ex-employee didn’t give up without a fight, and now says the company is crumbling because of her actions.
It all started when the gymnastic coach was admitted to hospital after a series of dizzy spells and vomiting. But whilst doctors were finding out the root cause of the problem – her boss was already packing up her office and looking for a replacement Experts have since clarified what your legal rights are when it comes to sick pay – and whether you can be laid off due to your health…
Taking to popular forum site Reddit last year, she explained how her remarks meant that the business began to decline until the point that it started to ‘fall apart’. She wrote: “I worked as a gymnastics coach. I just started working there for a month or two. And in a month I started getting really dizzy (regularly outside of work) and I would lose my balance best way to describe it as my brain lagging.”
The woman explained further: “I’d look one way and it’d take forever for my eyes to adjust looking that way. And I left early 30 mins early once because I could not stand and if I coached I didn’t want to pass out or miss spot them then something goes wrong.
“Then the next time this happened I asked my boss to cover for me real quick to go to the bathroom. I went to the bathroom and threw up and left then went to the hospital. I never threw up and the dizzy was bad.
“While I was in the ER my boss fired me. Didn’t say hope you feel better or anything. Just fired me. So I told the people I know there and the people I’m close with who go there I told them what happened and they were appalled at why they fired me so they left and quit going there or sending there child there. Quite a joy to watch her place fall apart..”

Since sharing her thread, the woman’s post has raked in hundreds of comments – where people flocked to share their opinions. One person wrote: “She showed her true colours then. She is a selfish boss since she didn’t even give you a chance to recover and come back.” “How is it ok for them to fire you on the spot like that?” One shocked user questioned.
If you’re working for an employer, you might get what is commonly referred to as ‘contractual sick pay’ (CSP) but also might be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). You can’t claim SSP for the first three days you’re off sick, but after that you could be entitled to £116.75 a week for up to 28 weeks. You can’t get SSP if you’re self-employed, in the armed forces, or were paid Employment and Support Allowance in the last 12 weeks.
According to Citizens Advice, if you have had a ‘lot of time off work’ due to a sickness, your employer may dismiss you as you’re no longer able to do your job. But, if you’ve been working for the company for more than two years – they have to follow the ‘correct disciplinary process’ before getting rid of you. You can learn more about your rights and what this process entails here.
