Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud laid bare – from ‘beloved brother’ to ‘arch-nemesis’
Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship has faced several tests in recent years, but their bond has not always been fracteous.
Harry candidly revealed in his memoir “Spare” that their relationship has had plenty of ups and downs since their early childhood, with competiveness being at the heart of it.
“In some ways,” Harry wrote in the opening chapter of the memoir, “he was my mirror, in some ways he was my opposite. My beloved brother, my arch-nemesis, how had that happened?” Over the course of a few hundred pages, Harry attempted to unpick how they had come to their current situation.
He claimed William ignored him when they were at school together at Eton and didn’t like it when their late mother picked out matching outfits for them to alleging his older brother physically attacked him in 2019, no stone was left unturned.
William, who has cultivated as much of a private life as their position can indulge, made no public comment in response to the allegation, but sources told Harpers Bazaar at the time that he was “devastated.” Another insider was quoted as saying by People Magazine that of all the royals “William is the one who is most upset and needs time to calm down”.
