A mum was gobsmacked when she returned home after work to find her home had been turned upside down and left in heaps of mess – people say they wouldn’t put up with it
A busy parent was met with piles of mess after her mum babysat the grandkids – and people are ‘furious’.
Finding childcare fast is not an easy task so anyone who has family who can help out are pretty lucky. The UK-based mum Jess explained on TikTok that she was scheduled to be in work on a Friday and Saturday recently and needed some help with her children. Thankfully her mother was able to help out – accompanied by her Jess’ sister. But according to Jess’ video, when she got home, she was met with a huge pile of mess.
An untidy house is expected when looking after children, but the mum showed in a video clip how she had to walk through heaps of rubbish, dirty dishes, and clothes all over the floor. “It looks like a bomb has gone off in it,” Jess said.
Following her busy working week, the mum-of-two spent all of her Sunday cleaning up. She showed off her impressive cleaning via her TikTok page @jessfamilyandhome, but viewers couldn’t get passed the mess.
Her kitchen was cluttered with used dishes, a Greggs takeaway bag, ingredients on the counters, and clothes covering the entire floor. When she made her way to her living room, the mess was just as bad. The sofa was also covered in clothes and a hula hoop as well as toys and crayons cluttered all over.
Jess explained: “So this is what my house looked like last Sunday morning. I was working all day Friday and Saturday and my my sister and the two kids have been in the house all weekend. So now it looks like a bomb has gone off in it.
“When I start cleaning the house I always start off by setting the washing machine off on the first load. I then start filling the washing up bowl and then sorting out stuff from the kitchen side that needs to either be put away or put in the bin.”
She continued: “While I wait for the first load of washing up to dry, I start on the lounge. My mum seems to put all the clean clothes on this chair and never ends up putting them in a basket. So I then sort them out – all their [the children’s] clothes to go upstairs and mine in my bedroom.
“My mum can never seem to manage to put any of the kitchen towels back in the drawer properly. So I had to take them all out, fold them all up again, and put them in neatly so they actually all fitted. I then cleared off all the side. My mum is a hoarder so we do have a lot of stuff.”
After cleaning inside the house, the mum then went into the garden to give it a sweep as she spoke about plans she has to get it decluttered ahead of summertime. The clip of the Jess’ cleaning has raked in over one million views – people were stunned by the mess.
One individual said: “No way would my mum dream of leaving my house in that state. I would cry if I walked into that,” one person wrote. “No way they’ve left your house like that,” added another.
A third person penned: “That is so unhelpful of your mum I’m sorry, my mum would never do that to me – to make my job twice as hard. It’s not fair on your children! She’s gonna have to pull her finger out.” Another said: “My mum pops in for an hour and starts folding things that don’t even need folding.”
Offering words of encouragement to Jess, another said: “You are doing an amazing job.” Another wrote: “You are doing a great job! Good on you trying to give your kids a good example of how a family home should be.”
One other added: “Looking great, sometimes our houses get like this busy lives take over sometimes. Don’t ever forget we are only human but amazing work and keep it up.”
