A bizarre superstitious theory has spread on social media as people wildly claim the blood-soaked horses that ran wild in London yesterday and Big Ben’s clock stopping are ‘dark omens”.

Yesterday, the UK’s capital witnessed blood-soaked horses and the iconic Big Ben’s clock coming to a standstill, consequently leading some barmy folks to predict doom.

On April 24, four people were hurt after two horses escaped from an Army training exercise. Reportedly, the animals had been “covered in blood” before they bolted, causing their riders to fall and one soldier to be injured while they galloped through the city centre.

Adding to the alarm, London’s historic monument Big Ben unexpectedly stopped. The fully refurbished clock went completely silent just after 9am, with its hands frozen in place.

The sight of a stationary clock accompanied by a pair of runaway domesticated animals were perceived by some as signals of an imminent catastrophe – a “dark” period for the capital predicted to endure hundreds of years, according to the Daily Star.

Multiple Twitter users saw fit to warn about “woe” approaching the United Kingdom soon. “All we need now is all the ravens to leave the Tower of London and we got a full set of portents of woe,” one joked.

Another user commented: “I’m not a superstitious person but this is absolutely the sort of omen which ushers in 500 years of darkness suffering and strife.”

While folks were quick to see the humour, others were spooked by what they interpreted as an omen, being less eager to joke about what they believed to be the start of the “end times”. One wrote: “A black horse and a white horse covered in blood running through central London? That’s not a funny occurrence, that’s an omen”.

“A black horse and a white horse covered in blood running through central London? That’s not a funny occurrence, that’s an omen”, wrote one concerned citizen.

An equally worried Londoner chimed in: “Loose bloodied horses in central London feels like an omen for the end times.”

If ‘end of days’ was upon us, at least real-world Fallout shelters are at hand… for those who can track them down.

According to one survival expert, nuclear shelters similar to the ones showcased in the Fallout videogame series are at people’s disposal if you know where to look. Although unwilling to divulge further, Robert Vicino, head honcho of survival company Vivos, hinted at a bunker located beneath Denver Airport.
