Kel Ferreti and Igor Campioni, who both have large followings on Instagram, were removed from the LATAM flight by police after Igor made a joke about a bomb to passengers
A pair of influencers were kicked off a flight after they made jokes about setting off a stink bomb in the cabin.
Kel Ferreti and Igor Campioni were taken off the LATAM plane before take-off, after the latter joked that his pal would set off a “bomb” inside the aircraft. The police were called and officers removed the two men for questioning.
Kel later said that he was in the toilet with an upset tummy when his pal jokingly told other passengers that he would “set off a bomb” as they waited for take-off, in a comment that is unlikely to go down well onboard a large commercial aircraft.
Igor has released a video in which he has apologised for his actions. He said: “I sincerely and humbly apologise to the people on that flight. If I inconvenienced you in any way, and if you know anyone on that flight, I ask for you to judge me based on who I am and my character. It was meant to be a joke that was almost funny about a ‘fart bomb’ causing the flight to be cancelled. But it’s a lesson learnt for me never to do something like that again.”
Before being escorted off the plane, a flight attendant had allegedly warned Igor about his use of the word ‘bomb’, telling him: “Don’t say that even as a joke.”
The influencer, who has more than 900,000 followers on Instagram, continued in his video: “Out of the blue, the Federal Police boarded the plane and went straight to the cockpit. When they came out, they called us over. They asked for our documents and took our bags.
“It was ironic, even the police didn’t believe it. Later, after some research, they clarified to me that you can’t say the word ‘bomb’ on a plane.”
The flight was bound for Maceió, Brazil, from São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport. It was eventually cancelled after being held up for hours with about 200 people on board on Thursday, April 25.
A LATAM spokesperson said: “We requested Federal Police assistance to disembark two passengers from flight LA3198 this Thursday after they reported carrying an explosive device on board. As per procedure in such cases, the aircraft and luggage were inspected by police, leading to the flight’s cancellation because the crew had exceeded their maximum duty hours.”
Kel, 38, has built up a following that stretches far into the millions with snapshots of his jet-set family life. He runs an online course which claims to teach people how to make money on the internet.
Kel and Igor are not the only people to have been kicked off a plane. A mum recently opened up about the ’embarrassing’ ordeal of being kicked off a flight, but for a different reason. Eve Maria said she was removed because of her outfit choice and ‘large breasts’.
She was wearing a striking leopard print get-up while travelling from Texas to Oklahoma, when she claims flight attendants approached her and asked her to step off the plane because it went against the airline’s dress code policy.
