Tributes have been laid in Hainault after a 14-year-old boy was killed in a brutal attack on Tuesday, April 30. Three bunches of flowers have been laid on New North Road, near to the scene of the stabbing.
At around 7am on Tuesday morning, a man drove a van into the front of a house on Thurlow Gardens, just opposite to Hainault Underground station. He then got out and attacked several people with a long sword, leaving four people in hospital and one dead.
The boy has now been named locally as Daniel Anjorin, who was on his way to Bancroft’s School, the same school that Grace O’Malley-Kumar, killed in Nottingham two years ago, had attended. Flowers for Daniel have now been laid on New North Road.

A tag on one of the three bouquets of flowers says: “RIP young man evil world we live in Hugs to family xx”.
Today, Sheryl Carter, who lives on Laing Close within the cordon area, told MyLondon : “It was four doors away, we heard it all. My daughter was about to go out.
“It’s time you go out to school, she heard the screaming. I spoke to the police and they asked to see our ring door bell footage. I just thought this is crazy, I heard the police shout “drop it” then I heard “we need to stop the bleeding”. Not long after I heard a scream which came from the mum.
Ms Carter said she then heard the mum said to a police officer: “I only spoke to him a minute ago. My neighbour saw her running and then she dropped and had to be held back by police.”
Daniel was on the way to Bancroft’s School where he was a year nine pupil according to a statement from a Holy Family Catholic School where his mother works as a science teacher. It read: “Dear Parents/Carers, It is with great sadness that I share with you the news of the death of the child of one of our staff members.
“Mrs Anjorin’s son was taken from this life suddenly this morning on his way to school. Please keep Mrs Anjorin, her husband and their other children in your prayers. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.”
Shocking images and footage from the scene have showed a man with a huge sword in Thurlow Gardens. Four other people were injured including two police officers.
A female officer nearly lost her hand in the attack, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley told PA. He said one male officer has serious injuries to his hand and a female colleague was in surgery for several hours yesterday after suffering “horrifically serious” wounds to her arm.
“People say officers run towards danger. What you’ve actually seen on some of the videos that are sort of around social media and on new sites such as your own, you actually see what that really looks like. You’ve got officers running towards someone who’s waving a sword,” Sir Mark said.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and went to hospital after suffering injuries when his van collided with a building. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
