A gardening guru has taken to social media to share her go-to trick to banish pesky slugs and snails from her garden – as she shares the damage they’ve caused in recent days
They’re every gardener’s worst nightmare – pests. To stop your plants from being devoured by slugs this summer, a gardening guru has shared her go-to trick to banish them from your yard. Meg, known as @meggrowsplants on TikTok, has received praise after sharing her simple trick that costs under £1.
In her video, she said: “Something is eating my pepper plants. I’m really mad about it, they look awful. I’ve had them top a few of them which means they’ve literally eaten the main stem off. “I know exactly who the culprit is. As you can see from this gooey, slimy trail right here, it is slugs.
“I usually don’t like unaliving things in the garden but I have seen slug damage everywhere, not just on my peppers. “Meg says snails and slugs “love beer” as they are attracted to the yeast in it before going on to explain how she uses the beverage to make ‘slug traps’, reports the Mirror US. “It’s as easy as pouring the beer into a bowl and setting the bowl near the affected area,” she said.

The following morning, Meg goes out to check on her traps and discovers a handful of slugs dead inside her beer bowls. Commenting on her post, one user said: “Slugs did a number on my peppers last year. I’m getting ahead of them this year. They’re a nightmare.”
Another user chimed in with their gardening woes, sharing: “I just planted my first pepper plants the other day and someone ate the entire plant out of both pots last night.” Meanwhile, a third user expressed gratitude, saying: “Wooooow thanks for the tip!” And yet another added to the conversation: “Slugs are brutal if they start attacking your plants! I’ve had them take down seedlings overnight.”.
