No one wants to battle with the unwanted smell of urine coming from their toilet – and now Mrs Hinch fans have come to the rescue with a 99p trick, and it’s not bleach
There’s nothing worse than nasty smells coming from your toilet – but you can banish them with a 99p trick.
For those battling the unwanted smell of urine coming from their toilet, there is a simple way to get rid of it thanks to fans of online cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch. While many people may instantly reach for bleach, as it can eliminate germs, it isn’t always the best product to use to get rid of the smell.
Fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have hailed shaving foam as the secret tool – as it “100 percent works” and isn’t as harsh as using bleach.
One woman took to the popular Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook to ask other cleaning fans for advice on how to banish the smell from her bathroom. She asked: “How do you get the smell of urine out of lino in a small toilet?” Ans the most popular comment was to use shaving foam.
One Mrs Hinch fan instructed: “Cheap shaving foam, not the gel that turns to foam. Spray it all around and leave for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe away,” while another added: “Cheap men’s shaving foam. I moved into a caravan and lots of men originally lived there. I tried everything. Shaving foam was the only thing that worked to remove the smell and it didn’t come back.”
A third said: “Shaving foam, spray on, smear over and leave on for a couple of hours before washing off.” You can buy shaving foam from Boots for £1, or just 99p from your local Tesco. You can also pick up six Gillette shaving foams from Amazon for 14.26.
Another trick from Mrs Hinch fans was how to banish unwanted smells from your fridge for just 99p. It came after a woman took to the same Facebook page and asked: “Advice please. One of the unopened cartons of milk had been leaking in the back of the fridge.
“I’ve emptied the fridge and give it a good clean. The kitchen and around the fridge still stink of off-milk five days on. I’m now wondering if some of the milk had gone down that little drainage hole in the bottom of the fridge.
“How can I clean behind this drainage hole? I hope you understand what I mean. Thanks in advance for any advice.” Fortunately, cleaning enthusiasts were quick to respond with their helpful advice, as one user penned: “I find with fridge smells if I put a small dish full of coffee. It does the trick.”
