A man has been left devastated after discovering the women in his workplace made a list ranking the male members of staff for their “hotness” and he hadn’t made the cut

As much as we all want to be self-confident and believe we don’t need validation from other people to know that we are worthy and attractive, finding out that someone doesn’t think you’re good-looking can be a real kick in the guts.

A man called Callum* has revealed how he was left devastated after discovering the women in his place of work had made a list ranking the male members of staff for their “hotness” and he hadn’t made the cut.

Sharing the heart-breaking story on social media, the 21-year-old explained that he works in a store with a bunch of other people all around his age. He wrote: “There are 13 girls, eight guys, and we have a pretty good working atmosphere, no open hostility so far I know and everyone gets along well, and jokes around with everyone.

“The guys and girls do tend to stick together more but as for me, I’m fairly well-liked by everyone, I try and be pleasant to everyone I work with because who needs an ***hole co-worker?” He went on: “One of the lads, Chris*, 23, is seeing one of the girls from the shop, Ashley*, 21. Chris was having a bit of a play around on her phone when he stumbled upon the girls’ group chat.

“He said it was mostly girly chatter, but he found a list ranking all the blokes in the shop by their ‘hotness’,” reports the Mirror US. “He thought it was a laugh and took a screenshot to send to our group chat.” Callum continued, saying that everyone in the boys’ group chat found it hilarious until they noticed his name wasn’t included. He added: “I didn’t check the chat till later as I was with my parents at the time and had it on silent. When I saw I wasn’t on the list it felt like a slap in the face. And the worst part? The list was out of ten, and even the three delivery guys who drop stuff off and get flirted with by some of the girls were on it.”

He admitted: “This really knocked me for six, in a way I don’t think I’ve ever been knocked before. It’s like blimey, am I such an ugly monster that I’m not even worthy of being ranked. I spent the rest of my day feeling miserable, and not speaking to anyone. When I wasn’t replying to the chat, the lads all tried to message me individually, but I didn’t respond.

“I checked the chat and the guys were starting to get annoyed on my behalf, which was the last thing I wanted. I decided to call in sick the next day, and when I didn’t show up apparently it all came out into the open. The girls at the store started messaging me, apologizing to me and making all kinds of excuses, quite frankly, I didn’t care.”

After he skipped work, Callum was confronted by assistant manager Becky*, who offered an apology from the team, but he sensed it was just a move to avoid repercussions. He assured readers that he’s very aware that no one owes him to find him attractive, but being excluded hurt: “Having relative strangers and not me felt pretty cruel and messed up. I don’t know how to describe it. Like it guess it sucks I’m not attractive to them, but being left off entirely felt like a step too far.”

The shop’s boss and owner eventually got wind of the list and disciplined the participants, including suspending Becky. Despite things calming down, Callum plans to leave after his next semester for a new part-time gig. Readers on Reddit were heartbroken for Callum. One user shared some inspiring words: “You could not pay me to relive my 20s. Onwards and upwards! Be rest assured you probably won’t even think of these people in a few years. Not that it makes it better but you’re clearly a nicer person than all of them. “.
