‘Big cat’ caught on camera in the British countryside

A woman reckons she might be “going mad” after spotting a “huge cat” while on her way to the pub.

Alison Kay shared the image, which shows a large animal crossing the road in Stickford, Lincolnshire, to the Stickford Village Community Group on Facebook.

Alison was not sure whether it was an elusive big cat or a “loose dog”. Although members of the village community attempted to help her get to the bottom of the mystery, many were left scratching their heads over the origin of the animal.

Alison wrote: “We cycled today from midville to the Red Lion and as we stopped on the bridge, we saw what can only be described as a ‘huge cat’.

“We just want to rule out the logical explanation that it was a loose dog, however it quickly disappeared into the fields as quickly as we saw it, and this is the photo we have. I’m a big believer we have big cats in the UK and wondered if anyone can shed any more light on other sightings in the area or are we going mad? ! [sic]”.

Stickford villagers piled into the comments section with guesses as to what Alison may have captured in the photo. One local joked: “It’s the Beast of Bodmin Moor on his holidays.” Another claimed there is a big cat that is frequently spotted nearby. They wrote: “There is a big cat that roams the area it is normally seen near Dysons Grange Farm.”

Another fellow villager reckoned they might have solved the mystery, speculating that a black dog from down the street could have been astray. Attaching an image of the dog, they said it “wanders about then goes home”. Relieved, Alison went with this theory and responded with: “This actually makes me think now that’s who we saw!”.
