The Wordle player claimed his ‘life will never be the same’ following his achievement with the puzzle this week. And it’s all because his simple “system” finally paid off

A Wordle enthusiast was over the moon after his unique strategy led him to guess the correct answer on his first try. The player shared his excitement, revealing his consistent approach to the game finally worked.

Wordle, the brainchild of Josh Wardle, became a global sensation in 2021, captivating 2million daily players within just 10 months of its online debut. The game challenges players to guess a five-letter word, which remains the same for all players and refreshes every 24 hours.

The rules are straightforward: players have six chances to nail the correct word. Wordle employs a colour-coded feedback system to nudge players in the right direction by indicating if letters are correctly placed or not.

For instance, a green box signals whether a letter is both correct and well-placed. A yellow box means the letter is correct but misplaced, while a grey box indicates the letter doesn’t feature in the word at all.

For those seeking an extra challenge, the game offers a ‘hard mode’ which compels players to utilise the hints provided rather than making random guesses, reports Daily Star.

An X (formerly Twitter ) user couldn’t contain his joy, proclaiming that his “life will never be the same” after his triumph with Wordle on Wednesday (May 8). He told his 9,000 followers: “I have a system for Wordle. Same every day. I’ve always wondered if the first word would ever be the word. It couldn’t happen could it? Today it did.”

“Genuinely. I know I’ll never convince you I didn’t cheat. I didn’t. Life won’t be the same. Wordle 1,054 1/6.”

It appears other players also found a similar strategy. Answering his tweet, another fan wrote: “I do this daily. I play against my daughter in the US. One day I asked my husband for a word, put it in, and it was correct. He (and I) was shocked, he’s not much of a wordsmith!”

Another added: “Congrats. I have a similar system. Just one word with 5 of the main letters of the alphabet. Don’t think I’ve ever got it on Guess 1 though. That’s a saver.”

A fourth player gushed: “I used the word HEART as my first word from when I started doing Wordle. One day it came up so I changed my first word to EARTH – an anagram of HEART. It came up as the answer not long after that so I have done it in one twice!”

Meanwhile, a second previous ‘winner’ noted the poster will now need to switch their opening word, as it will never appear again.

“Trouble is… now you have to change your first word!” they commented. “It happened to me, my first word was TRAIN and then I had to completely change, and remember my system, and it drives me mad because I have no idea if my new word has already been used.”
