The clip-on fan helps to keep me cool on the go
With the mercury finally expected to rise later this week, “sweaty Bettys” like me will be desperately looking for ways to stay cool, calm and collected. On the wrong side of my forties, the thought of a heatwave brings me out in a cold sweat. While some folk may still think that “ladies don’t sweat, we glow”, I can assure you that any temperature rise will transform me into a hot, sweaty mess in an instant.
Having previously purchased a £14.99 clip-on fan from Amazon last year, I will be pulling it out of winter retirement to help keep those hot flushes at bay. Cooling, compact and a must-have for the heatwave, it’s a super cheap personal cooling device that I wouldn’t want to be without.
Of course, this little fan is no match for a larger, more powerful cooling device like a full-size desk fan, a tower fan or even something more fancy like a Dyson, but it is still pretty impressive for its size and price. Small but perfectly formed, an impressive amount of airflow blasts out from its diminutive dimensions making it perfect for use in almost any situation.

Super easy to use, this little fan can be charged using a regular USB cable via a plug socket or my laptop. It came with its very own cable and a rechargeable battery that was easy to slide in behind the battery cover panel. There is also a light on the back that lets me know when it’s charging.
While I tend to only use the fan for less than an hour at a time, according to the manufacturers’ guidelines it should be able to cool the air for up to four hours on a single charge. I can also confirm that it really is quiet and it just emits a gentle hum while doing its thing.
With not one, not two but an impressive three different speeds, I can enjoy a gentle breeze when I’m working at my desk or I can ramp it up to produce a fine flow of air, enough to keep me cool, even when I’m sweating it up at the supermarket or on a spin bike.
The fan can be tipped and tilted to make it easier to find the perfect airflow direction, and the clip on the bottom feels strong enough to last. The wide opening makes it easy to slip onto bike handles and treadmills and I would imagine it would work just as well on pushchair handles, pram bumper bars and virtually anywhere else you can think to stick it.
Compact enough to be carried in my handbag, this £14.99 Amazon fan is a great buy and with next-day delivery for Prime members, you too could be enjoying its awesome cooling power by the weekend.
If you can’t wait for Amazon to deliver, you can pick up the £12.99 Anyday Handheld Fan from John Lewis or a Mini-Mist Handheld Fan for £28 from B&Q.
Meanwhile, Shark has launched their top-of-the-range multifunction fan for this summer which can be used cordless or corded, indoors or out. It’s currently reduced by 25% on their site.
