Tom Kerridge has come under fire again for plugging his fish and chips dish, which has a whopping price tag, with some slamming the portion as ‘far too expensive’
Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has once again angered customers after plugging his restaurant’s £32 fish and chips – but it was previously slammed as “ridiculously overpriced”.
Tom claims that the dish, which can be purchased at central London’s Kerridge’s Bar and Grill on the a la carte menu, is always a “crowd pleaser” as it comes with chips, pease pudding, posh mushy peas and curry sauce. However, people have questioned whether the portion is big enough for the whopping price tag, with one critic saying the portion is so small it makes the fork look big. Other critics have said it’s “far too expensive” and is “just battered fish”.
Describing the dish, Kerridge, who has three Michelin stars and owns nine restaurants across the UK said: “I just love the crunch and crackle of the famous Fish & Chips at Kerridge’s Bar and Grill. Gluten-free, delicious and served with fluffy triple cooked chips, tartare sauce, spiced Matson sauce and pease pudding, this is always a crowd pleaser.”
But it’s not the most expensive fish and chip dish he offers, as in October last year, Kerridge was slammed for charging £37 for fish and chips at his Kerridge’s Fish and Chips eatery in Harrods. Food critic, Daniel Young joked: “That is either a small fillet or a very large fork. No denying the impressive crunch, however.”

Comments about the meal also included: “This man’s food is far too expensive”, “Hardly a wow factor, just battered fish with a joking price”, and “Where is the rest of it?” Some did say that it looked “fab”, however, and one restaurant-goer praised the meal saying: “The best food we ever had, the best weekend there last week amazing staff thank you Tom”.
In January, Kerridge branded a customer a “d**k” for criticising his fish and chip meal after they said it looked like something you could pick up at the supermarket frozen aisle. They wrote: “Looks like something you’d get in the frozen aisle. Poor.” To which a clearly offended Tom responded: “Sad post mate. Cheer up buddy, say something nice, and don’t be a d**k. It’s not a good look.”
The Mirror has contacted Tom Kerridge for comment.
