The animal print trend is in full swing – and River Island has the perfect dress for anyone looking to get in on the action

With leopard print well and truly tipped as the trend of the year, fashion fans have been running to River Island to get their hands on a ‘stunning’ maxi dress that you can wear all year round. The animal print dress has been a hit on social media, and is suited to a variety of events and occasions.

The high street favourite’s Beige Leopard Print Sequin Slip Maxi Dress was posted to the brand’s social media earlier this month, leaving shoppers swooning over the piece. In an Instagram reel, a member of the River Island team, Emily, demonstrated how it can be styled in at least five ways to suit different settings.

In the reel Emily put together a handful of different outfits to suit different occasions from a casual look with a denim jacket to a smarter take with a blazer, switching up the shoes and bags to give the dress a different feel. The caption on the post said: “Okay so we’re wild for you. And the dress. Iconic islander, Emily, once again ruining our bank accounts.”

And Instagram users were loving what they saw with nearly 400 likes in under 24 hours. One user who left a comment wrote: “Dress looks stunning!” A second said: “This dress is everything.” And a third who loved everything including the dress wrote: “Love the dress and everything else!”

On the River Island website the dress is described as featuring an animal print design as well as sequin detailing. Coming in at £65, it has a v shaped neckline and comes in a sleeveless strappy style which allows for the wearer to adjust the length of the straps, Bristol Live reports.

And it’s not just for the summer months either, as styled with an elegant wool cardigan or neutral knitted jumper, the dress could give the illusion of a skirt. Throw on some boots and you’ve got yourself an autumnal ensemble.

The dress is a maxi style so would be perfect for slightly more formal occasions as well as casual days out into town or even perfect to explore a foreign city this summer. As it shows in the product name the dress comes in a maxi style meaning the dress settles just above the wearer’s ankles, which may make it trickier for petite shoppers to style, depending on your height.

If you’d prefer something slightly shorter, this Animal Print Round Neck Midaxi Tea Dress from Marks and Spencer is a great choice. Not only is it in what’s arguably the most on trend print of the season, but it’s ‘universally flattering’ and ‘chic enough for more formal occasions’.

If you’re looking for something a little bit different – or just want to stock up on leopard print dresses (we don’t blame you), Quiz has also launched this £34.99 Stone Leopard Print Long Sleeve Mesh Midaxi Dress as part of its new season collection.

After appearing on the River Island Instagram three times in as many weeks, it’s no surprise that the retailer has flagged it as ‘selling fast’, so if you want to get your hands on the Beige Leopard Print Sequin Slip Maxi Dress, get it here for £65.
