Queen Elizabeth II shared an adorable moment with her great-grandson Prince Louis on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Platinum Jubilee flypast, a lip reader revealed
The late-Queen shared a charming moment with her great-grandson Prince Louis on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Platinum Jubilee flypast, as revealed by a lip reader.
Surrounded by senior Royals, they greeted the enthusiastic crowd and enjoyed the aerial display in June 2022. The flypast for the Platinum Jubilee featured 70 aircraft, including the legendary Red Arrows and the historic Battle of Britain Memorial flight, dazzling spectators across London.
Amidst the roaring jets, Prince Louis captured everyone’s attention with his animated reactions, and a lip reading expert disclosed a particularly sweet exchange between him and the Queen. The young prince, just four years old at the time, was seen covering his ears as the military aircraft zoomed above, while his mother, Kate Middleton, gently soothed him by stroking his hair.
According to lip reading specialist Jeremy Freeman, speaking to Daily Star, Louis exclaimed “Woah” to his mum. Turning to his great-grandmother, Louis inquired, “Are the Red Arrows coming?”. To which the Queen warmly responded, “I hope so.” As more loud jets passed by, Louis looked up, waving at the pilots, then covered his ears again and made a humorous face towards the onlookers.
His brother, Prince George, was also spotted using a nickname for Kate during their carriage ride to the Horse Guards Parade. The then-eight-year-old, smartly dressed in a suit and tie, waved to the crowd before turning to his mum, affectionately calling her “momma”.
Body language expert Judi James revealed that Prince Louis and the Queen exhibited a shared “childlike excitement” on the balcony. Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: “Louis stepped in front of the Queen before tilting his head back to engage her in some animated conversation as they waited for the Red Arrows.
“Louis made this conversation seem like the most natural thing in the world and his lack of anything resembling fear suggested these two might share a rather close friendship based on shared fun behind the scenes, too.”
