The late bank holiday falls on Monday, May 27 – so if you’re set to enjoy a long weekend, you may be wondered if you can still visit your favourite fast food chain
McDonald’s fans are in luck, as the majority of its restaurants look set to be open this late bank holiday Monday – but will opening times be altered at all?
The late bank holiday falls on Monday, May 27 – so if you’re set to enjoy a long weekend, you may be wondered if you can still visit your favourite fast food chain. McDonald’s has roughly 1,300 branches in the UK, and of these, approximately 1,100 are franchised. This means its restaurants don’t have set opening hours.
To give you a rough idea of how early or late some restaurants are open for, we’ve searched some locations across the country to check when they’ll be open.
For example, the McDonald’s in Maidstone, Hart Street, is open from 6am until midnight, seven days a week – and this will remain the case over the bank holiday weekend. Its branch on Oxford Street in Manchester is normally open 24 hours, and this also isn’t set to change over the bank holiday weekend.
McDonald’s in Leicester Square in London will be open under its normal hours of 5am until 2.45am, as will the Cardiff, Queen Street branch, which normally open for 24 hours. The Glasgow, Argyle Street, restaurant will be open from 5pm until 3am the next day over the bank holiday weekend.
It comes after McDonald’s announced it is adding four new items to its iconic Happy Meal as part of a new trial. The menu shake-up includes three brand new items, Fish Bites, Flavoured Milk and the McFreezy, plus the iconic Mayo Chicken is also being added. Fish Bites are described as five bite-sized pollock pieces in a crisp panko breadcrumb coating, served with a choice of dip, while the McFreezy is a frozen ice dessert made with fruit juice and puree, available in either Orange or Mango and Pineapple flavour.
Finally, the Flavoured Milk will be available in Chocolate, Strawberry and Banana with natural flavourings and no added sugar. Fish Bites will also be available in a serving of nine as a side on the main menu for £5.79, and the McFreezy will also be available on the main menu for £1.59.
