An expert has revealed the best days to buy your Easter chocolate and how to take advantage of the best deals from different supermarket retailers – including how to utilise loyalty schemes
Easter will soon be here and the biggest supermarkets are slashing prices on your favourite chocolates left, right and centre.
However, as we’re still in a cost of living crisis, Brits will want to know where the very best deals are. One expert has shared her top tips on making sure you are getting more for your pennies – and you’ll have to be quick to snap up the best bargains.
Deals expert Sarah-Jane claimed the best time to stock up on Easter eggs is right now. For those who are part of supermarket loyalty schemes, they can already benefit from reduced-priced deals, which she says will more than likely expire on March 19.
Speaking to The Sun, the MyVoucherCodes expert said: “Supermarket giants like Tesco and Sainsbury’s are offering reduced prices to loyal customers who have a Clubcard or Nectar Card – but these offers won’t last long.”
Tesco has slashed the cost of 22 of its extra large Easter eggs including many Cadbury varieties. For example, Clubcard customers can snap up a 232g Cadbury Dairy Milk Twirl Easter Egg for £3.50.
But if you’re not signed up for the loyalty scheme, you’ll have to pay a fiver. This includes a 195g large Lindt Easter egg with a salted caramel gold bunny selling for £9 with a Nectar card, and £11 without.
Morrisons is offering different deals including specialist bundles on Easter eggs. Sarah said: “The good news is – the cheaper prices are staying until March 31. But it is only until stocks last – so shop sooner rather than later so you don’t miss out.”
While the main supermarkets will be fiddling with its prices leading up to Easter, the expert said it’s important to look at the other retailers too. She said: “Although the larger supermarkets have some great deals, don’t forget to check out value shops like Aldi, Lidl and Poundland for Easter chocolate bargains.”
However, if you’re willing to wait, you could pick up some even bigger bargains on Easter Sunday, according to the expert. She explained retailers will want to get rid of their stock and other major deals will come in after Easter is over. Sarah-Jane said: “Expect to see Easter eggs reduced throughout the day on Easter Monday. The Tuesday after Easter will see the most reductions as shops will be freeing up space for other seasonal products.”
