As well as being a fan of Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton, the Queen is a fan of Corrie and loves to indulge in the programme when she “sneaks” away to her home in Wiltshire

Queen Camilla recently confessed her love for Netflix’s smash hit Bridgerton while touring a garden inspired by the Regency-era drama at the Chelsea Flower Show. Despite being a keen reader, Camilla isn’t one to shy away from popular TV shows and soaps.

At a 2022 event, she hinted that she’d watched Netflix’s The Crown when she jokingly suggested her “fictional alter ego” Emerald Fennell, who plays Camilla in the series, could finish her speech for her. In addition to Netflix dramas, the Queen is said to be a fan of the iconic British soap Coronation Street, often indulging in episodes when she retreats to her Wiltshire home.

While the Royal Family boasts an impressive array of official residences across the country, Camilla maintains her private home in Wiltshire, which she purchased following her divorce from Andrew Parker-Bowles in 1994.

This residence is renowned as Camilla’s favourite hideaway, where she can escape the Royal spotlight and spend time with her grandchildren. Last year, it served as the backdrop for portraits taken by the Princess of Wales to mark Camilla’s 75th birthday, reports OK!.

After divorcing her first husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles, Camilla bought Ray Mill in Wiltshire for £850,000 and lived there full-time from 1996 to 2003. Conveniently, it’s just a 15-minute drive from King Charles’ cherished Highgrove home.

Camilla’s stunning abode boasts an array of impressive features, including a lush outdoor swimming pool, a terrace perfect for summer days, stables ready for her beloved horses, expansive gardens, and even its own river. It was the chosen venue for Camilla’s daughter, Laura Lopes, who celebrated her marriage to Harry Lopes with a reception there in 2006.

The residence is cherished by Camilla as her sanctuary, where she can unwind in comfort away from Royal protocols. A source confided to the Express how the Queen relishes her downtime at Ray Mill: “At Ray Mill she can sit down with a big GandT, kick off her shoes and watch Coronation Street, which Charles loathes.”

In this personal haven, Camilla enjoys a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts with Charles’ preference for order: “She also doesn’t have to bother about how the place looks Charles is so fussy about tidiness, while she leaves her stuff all over the place. She doesn’t need her cushions plumped all the time.”

These insights into the Queen Consort’s laid-back lifestyle echo previous revelations, such as those from her good friend and one-time flatmate Virginia Carrington, who disclosed that Camilla’s bedroom often resembled the aftermath of an explosion.

After completing her education at Mon Fertile finishing school, a young Camilla, then 17, shared a two-bedroom flat in Belgravia with Virginia, the offspring of the esteemed former Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington.

Virginia has openly reminisced about their shared living experience in Jessica Jayne’s enlightening book ‘The Duchess Of Cornwall: Camilla’s Story And Secrets’.

The author recalled: “On coming home, she would just drop her clothes on the floor and leave them. Camilla’s bedroom always looked like a bomb had hit it.”

Radio presenter Gyles Brandreth painted a similar picture, stating: “Virginia was fairly tidy and organised and Camilla drove her nuts, in the nicest possible way.”

He further shared Virginia’s words with: “You know, Camilla has this inability to hang anything up on a hanger. And she has an aversion to cleaning fluids of any description. You should see the state of the bathroom when she’s been in it’. “”.
