Five picks from Apple and Samsung under £260 that’d make great Father’s Day presents
Father’s Day isn’t all about rich chocolates and soppy cards, anyone with a tech-savvy dad and a chunkier budget could find themselves browsing Apple and Samsung for gift ideas this year. So, the Mirror tech team have done some digging on the deals to help you gift your loved one this June 16.
The one big perk of tech is it can be gifted at any time of the year, and is typically a well-suited idea for those who don’t like sweet treats or aren’t overly fussed about the latest Father’s Day beauty box and aftershave.
A new worktop air fryer, outdoor Ninja BBQ and Grill, or Ooni Pizza oven may be better-suited ideas, but our round-up will focus on Samsung and Apple gadgets. Including AirPod rivalling Galaxy earphones that are a fraction of the usual price, and one way to get free Apple Music – a present in itself for music-loving dads.

As the father-figure celebratory holiday creeps up many retailers have launched sales, and despite not all being branded as a Father’s Day ‘event’ it’s certainly a chance to buy. Sky has cut £140 off its Glass TV package in time, one Euros fans may want to watch out for, while there’s also ‘in time for the Euros’ sales at Samsung.
Apple AirTag
First up we have the trackable gadget from Apple, the AirTag. A popular buy for keen travellers, nervous pet owners, or frequent ‘misplace keys’ shoppers this could be a great buy for Father’s Day…and it’s not too heavy on the wallet either.
At £28, this Amazon price is actually one of the cheapest you’ll find compared to the usual £35 price for one. The coin-sized accessory can be clipped onto any belonging to help keep track with Apple’s Find My app – making it the perfect gift for a forgetful dad.
Whether attached to luggage, a handbag, keys, or a backpack, the AirTag can help find an item when lost by anonymously pinging the Find My network – which will ping you its location. We’ve recently reviewed the Apple AirTag on holiday, and it may be the best there is to buy.
Samsung Galaxy Tag
We couldn’t include the Apple AirTag and not give a nod to Samsung’s own version, the Galaxy SmartTag2. This works the same (nearly) as the AirTag but instead of the Find My network use the SmartThings app instead. It can be tracked with any device as long as it uses Android 11.
A plus to the SmartTag2 is it already comes fitted into a stylish keyring (unlike Apple which you have to buy separately), however, it is £34 – slightly more than Amazon’s £28 AirTag price.
Galaxy Buds 2Pro
Samsung’s price cut on its active noise cancelling (ANC) earphones has come at a good time for Father’s Day shoppers, all the more to sway shoppers. Usually £219, the pair are reduced to a much cheaper £159 price.
Its ANC feature is most-sought after, the invisible tech helps block out unwanted noise for wearers to avoid any disctraction or interferance when taking phone calls and its aided by high-quality SNR microphones and a 24Bit Hi-Fi sound to boost listening experience.
HomePod Mini 2 and free Apple Music
The HomePod Mini is a speaker and the intelligence of Siri and smart home device all in one. With privacy and security built-in users will be able to make the most of their Apple devices across their home. John Lewis sells the smart speaker, along with a hard-to-beat deal that’ll give all shoppers free Apple Music.
Anyone who buys the £99 speaker will be able to claim a free six-month subscription at no extra cost, something that’ll usually cost £10.99 a month – that’s a £65.94 saving.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
The Galaxy Watch6 is Samsung’s newest smartwatch, launched along with the new S24 phone range. And it’s health upgrades, and improved sleep tracking make it an ideal gift for health-loving parents.
Available from £259 – with a small £30 sale, wearers can track their sleep patterns and get details updates on their wellness.
