A royal expert has suggested Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be focusing on different priorities in their new life outside Royal duties. Tom Quinn, author and veteran Royal commentator, said that while Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex appears concentrated on their American ventures, the Duke of Sussex seems intent on ‘brooding’ over their past.
The pair gave up their Royal duties back in 2020, then proceeded to shake the monarchy with a string of explosive allegations while also dipping their toes in several endeavours, including the Invictus Games and American Riviera Orchard, Meghan’s latest brand.
In an interview with the Mirror, Quinn remarked: “Meghan appears to have moved on to some extent, but then she was only part of the Royal Family for a relatively short time. She has more to focus on in the States than her husband has.”

He claimed that it is mainly Meghan steering the couple’s commercial ventures in the US, whereas Harry appears to be left to dwell on the past. Louella Alderson, a relationship expert, echoes Quinn’s thoughts, suggesting to the same source that the Sussexes may indeed be juggling different ambitions for the time being, reports the Express US.
She noted: “Given Harry was born into the Royal Family in Britain, it’s understandable that he would have a strong emotional attachment to his past as part of the Royal Family. On the other hand, Meghan was born and raised in America and it would feel more like home to her and so it makes sense that she has an easier time moving on from their time as working members of the Royal Family and is focused on her opportunities in the US.”
News has come to light that Prince Harry officially listed the United States as his primary place of residence, leading PR expert Lynn Carratt from Press Box to suggest that the Duke’s “heart isn’t in the UK anymore”, though there’s no necessity for him to become a US citizen. Regardless, Carratt maintained, he couldn’t be more British, given his birthplace, membership in the Royal Family, and his father’s status as king.
This revelation sparked considerable debate about potential US citizenship for Harry and how this move might influence his Royal entitlements. Gita Gorji, an immigration lawyer based in New York, clarified to Daily Express US, that whilst the US constitution prevents its Government from granting noble titles, it doesn’t cover those granted by foreign governments, hinting at a legal loophole enabling Harry to retain his Royal rank.
Representing the So Syncd dating app, Ms Alderson spoke out concerning the variances between Meghan and Harry’s experiences, stating it’s not indicative of the couple’s lack of mutual support. Alderson shared, “As a couple, they may be able to navigate these differences and find ways to support each other in their respective pursuits. It could simply be a matter of balancing individual ambitions with their shared commitment as a married couple.”
The relationship expert concluded that ultimately, communication and understanding would dictate how the Sussexes tackle their differences.
