A woman is questioning her husband after he went on a work trip but didn’t text her to let her know he was back at his hotel room – and did something very different instead
It can be stressful when your other half is out and about and you’re sitting at home twiddling your thumbs.
One woman has learned that the hard way after her husband went away on a work trip – and rather than calling it a night early and getting some rest, he told her he was at a bar with his colleagues. The woman took to Mumsnet to ask: “Am I being unreasonable to think it’s not normal to be at a bar with work at 1.30am?”
She wrote: “My husband is in Germany having meetings. It’s an early start tomorrow. He messaged at 10pm saying they were in the bar and that he would call when he was back in his room in an hour… He still hasn’t called.
“Am I being unreasonable to think one wouldn’t be out until 1.30am at a bar if you have an early start the next day?”
In the comments, many defended the man and related to his plight. One said: “Sometimes you just get carried away enjoying yourself.”
Another wrote: “It’s quite possible. I’ve certainly been on work trips and stayed out later than that with clients and/or colleagues.”
Someone else shared: “I’ve known colleagues roll into their hotel rooms at 6am and then still bright and chipper for meetings at nine. No idea how they do it, am a bit jealous they can, to be honest “
A Mumsnetter penned: “Isn’t it more likely that he was just tired and forgot to call/message? If you are worried, send him a message and go to bed. If he is still in the bar or if the message happens to wake him up, he will respond with a quick reply. If he is deeply asleep, you will hear from him in the morning.”
One woman fumed: “I was out until 2am while on a work trip last week. I was simply having a nice evening. If my husband would be p****d off with me for that, or implying that I was probably cheating on him, I’d not be impressed.”
